Romans 12:9-13 (ESV)
Preparing a Place for Others
7 minute read
Paul ends a long description of God’s mercy with a practical call: ‘Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.’ The word means love of the stranger.
Hospitality is gratitude with its sleeves rolled up. When we remember how freely we were welcomed by God, we begin to look for who still needs a place.
It does not require a beautiful home. It might be an extra chair at the table, a meal left on a porch, a phone call to someone spending the holiday alone.
As November closes and Advent approaches, ask God to show you one person for whom you can prepare a place. Thanksgiving becomes complete when it is shared.
Reflect
- Who welcomed you when you needed a place?
- Who might be overlooked this holiday season?
- What small act of hospitality could you offer this week?
Pray
Welcoming God, You made room for me. Open my eyes, my table, and my heart to those who need a place this season. Amen.
