The Restful Home Checklist
A peaceful home is not a perfect home. It is a home with fewer demands shouting at once and at least one place that welcomes your soul to become still.
Choose one room
Do not reset the whole house. Choose the room where you most need to exhale.
Remove visual hurry
Set a ten-minute timer and clear only what signals unfinished work.
- Paper piles and unopened mail.
- Work devices and charging cords.
- Projects that belong in another room.
Add what supports rest
Use what you already own.
- A warm, usable light.
- A comfortable seat with a clear surface nearby.
- A Bible, journal, and pen within reach.
Prepare for the season
Make the space physically kind as October cools.
- Place a blanket within reach.
- Check the window for cold drafts.
- Choose a simple tray for tea or water.
Dedicate the place
Sit for five minutes and ask God to make this ordinary corner a place of peace.
The room does not have to look finished. It only needs to make rest easier to receive.
