Seasons Are Not Setbacks

There is a particular ache to early fall. The light shifts, the calendar fills, and something in us wonders whether we used the summer well. Ecclesiastes answers that ache without scolding it: there is a time for every matter under heaven.
Solomon does not list only the pleasant seasons. He names planting and uprooting, weeping and laughing, keeping and letting go. The whole catalog belongs to God. Nothing on the list is a detour.
Notice too that the list comes in pairs. Every season named has an opposite that follows it. That is not fatalism — it is comfort. Whatever season you are in has an appointed end, and the next one is already written in God's hand.
If you are entering September tired, that is not a verdict on your faith. It may simply be the season you are in — and God is present in this one exactly as He was in the last.
